Our Campaign’s Top Issues

I’m excited to announce that I am running for Quabbin School Committee in my home town of Hardwick, Massachusetts. I’m excited to be a fresh new perspective to the committee. I’m running on a platform of improving support for mental health, academic success, and civics education.

  • Improve Mental Health Support in Our Schools

  • Retain and Improve Upon Academic Support

  • Ensure the Provision of a Well-rounded Civics Education for All High School Students

Improve Mental Health Support in Our Schools

We must ensure that every student and staff member within the school district feels supported as a whole person and not just academically. I propose to do this by maintaining the existing guidance counseling staff, advocating for more state funding to prevent mental health tragedies, and supporting students in all levels with mental health needs.

Retain and Improve Upon Academic Support

We must ensure that all students, regardless of disability or special education needs, can access a fair and equitable education. I propose to do this by retaining academic support funding at a minimum of level-funded status, having a separate academic support role in the Central Business Office, and ensuring that all students of different abilities feel supported throughout their entire education journey.

Ensure the Provision of a Well-rounded Civics Education for All High School Students

We must ensure that all high schoolers graduate with a well-rounded civics education and are prepared to interact with the world around them in an informed manner post-graduation. I propose to do this by working to engage civics classrooms with lawmaking happening on the state and local level. Additionally, we must encourage engagement with the school committee and town selectboards with rotating student report-outs. Retaining funding for civics education teachers within the high school so students have the opportunity to take civics classes is non-negotiable.
